I am so much against the thought of War but, you have to protect yourself and your country these days.  War is such a terrible thing.  “War, what is it good for?  Absolutely Nothing”  Peace and Love to all.  It is sad that we have to develop a defense system like this.  CUDOs to the military!  Keep us safe!

HONOLULU – The U.S. military says it successfully shot down a short-range ballistic missile in a test off Hawaii.

Soldiers of the 6th Air Defense Artillery Brigade from Fort Bliss, Texas, fired the interceptor from the Pacific Missile Range Facility on Kauai. It shot down the target, which was fired after 9:30 p.m. Monday from a decommissioned amphibious assault ship positioned offshore, during the target’s final stage of flight.

The soldiers firing the interceptor didn’t know ahead of time when the target missile was going to be launched.

“Preliminary indications are that planned flight test objectives were achieved,” the U.S. Missile Defense Agency said in a statement.

The test was the latest for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system, which is part of a planned missile defense shield for the United States. Other parts of the network include a floating sea-based radar and interceptors fired from ships.

The military also has Patriot anti-missile batteries to intercept missiles just before they strike.

The agency said Monday’s intercept occurred at the lowest altitude to date for the THAAD system.

The THAAD system intercepts targets at higher altitudes, allowing it to defend larger area than the Patriots. Even so, it can only shoot down short and medium-range missiles. Intercontinental ballistic missiles are out of its range.

The THAAD system is one of two missile defense systems the military tests at the Pacific Missile Range Facility on Kauai. The other is the sea-based Aegis system.

The Missile Defense Agency coordinates U.S. missile tests in cooperation with the Army, Navy and Air Force.

Welcome to my 3rd annual Kentucky Derby run for the Roses picks.  The first picks I lost $10.  Last year, well I lost my shirt just like the photo here.  Yes that is me 15 years ago at the Kentucky Derby in my bra.  It was hot in the infield!

Derby1

Hopefully it will go better this year.  You can bet online if you go the official Kentucky Derby site. Bet early, they get jammed up as it gets close to post time.

OK as a refresher, here is my strategy to betting. Pick the favorite, if there is a clear choice, if not pick the best horse with the highest odds.  Pick 2 more horses in the 10–1, 15–1 range.  I place $100 on each horse. I will break that down in a minute.

Lets look at today’s race.  It has been raining most of the day in Louisville. The track at best will be sloppy. They even cancelled the morning workout. Most handicappers count on the workouts for their final picks. So it is going to be sloppy on the track, a mess. This really changes the game. You need to look at horses that have experience running in the mud.  Lookin at Lucky is the 3–1 favorite.  The only problem this horse has is that he drew the pole position #1.  Horses have a hard time here as they get pinned in.  A fast start is crucial, not going to happen in the mudd.  The 2nd choice is at the 20th pole position, bad also as the horse on the outside has to challenge every other horse on the track to get to the inside rail.  Pole positions are by random draw.  It is truly any one’s race.  Only 3 horses in the Derby have won in the mud, Devil May Care, Backtalk, Super Saver.

This year with the bad weather I predict a long shot will be in the money.  So I am going to look at some of the 30–1 horses and hopefully more money for me!  I believe that the favorite Lookin for Lucky will be the winner.  He has performed well on the pole position and won 2 races from that spot.  Bob Baffert the trainer has this horse ready.  He is a strong finisher, remember this a LONG horse race 1 1/4 miles.  I like Devil May Care a 10–1 choice, a filly who is strong and won in the mud before.  Go girl power!  My third choice is a long shot, tricky selection here.  I will take Mission Impazible at 25–1.  This horse is fresh, rested and ready. He won the 1 1/8 mile Louisana Derby March 27th.  The odds should be good when betting is finished.  Can he make the distance?

Here are my bets:

Lookin for Lucky $50 Win, $30 Place, $20 Show
Devil May Care $50 Place $50 Show
Mission Impazible $50 Place $50 Show

Remember betting affects the final odds, right now at 2PM bets are spread all over the place and the favorite Lookin in Lucky is now 8–1 as the favorite.  I like that. At this moment 11 million dollars has been bet on the Kentucky Derby.

Here is some trivia for you.  The funniest name for a horse I have heard is Hoof Hearted.  Here is the broadcast of his win, so darn funny!

I Love sausage, it goes back to my childhood.  When I was little I got to hang out with my Grand parents and Great grand parents and I have such fond memories of everything.  They lived on a big farm from Germany and kept many of the German traditions in the US.  My Great Grand Father loved head cheese, have you ever looked at that stuff?  As a small child I loved it, as an adult YUK!  Liverwurst was a daily standard.

One of my fondest memories is making sausage with my Great Grand parents.  The pork was hand cut, ground and spices added. As children we were tasked with filling the casings (intestines) as he ground the meat.  I remember it as a wonderful event.  This week I decided to recreate my childhood events.  I bought a pork tenderloin and decided to make my own sausage.

I have my Great Grand Fathers meat grinder, it was a precious remembrance of him.  But, I have a Kitchen Aid, that gets it done fast!  I put all sorts of seasonings in it, Sage, cumin, chili powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, black pepper to the mix. I had no idea how it would turn out.  This morning I cooked the sausage and oh boy was it a treat.  There was no grease in the pan and nice SUPER LEAN sausage.  A special day indeed.  Memories of a family tradition.  Will I do it again, absolutely!  I am the type of person that makes everything from scratch.  If I need spaghetti sauce I make myself.  Much better than Preggo.  Here is a funny pic about sausage!

No, no not me in jail and no Rehab for me.

Sorry it has been a while since I have posted.  I have been busy helping a close friend out.  We tried to help someone who frankly could not help themselves.  We let him live in our home for a “few days” which turned into several months.  He began drinking heavily and then drunk dialing his ex.  Not a good idea since there was a no contact order against him.

He is a nice person deep down, but just can’t get over his ex.  They broke up a year ago.  Time to move on!  We thought we could save his life and help him out.  Doing a good deed to help someone in need you know?

He got arrested for violating the injunction when drunk dialing. And guess where the police came?  To our house.  They pounded on the door and did not identify themselves, we thought it was a home invasion, so we were “locked and loaded”.  I caught a glimpse of a police uniform through a bathroom window.  Stupid not to identify themselves!  Our friend called his lawyer and he advised us not to answer the door, because he needed to turn himself in, not get arrested.  LOVELY!  They pounded on our door for 45 minutes, the dogs went nuts! No good dead goes unpunished.

So he turned himself in and went to jail.  His lawyer had worked a deal out where he would sit in jail for the weekend then on Monday all charges would be dropped.  He did not know about this deal.  Interesting…Please understand I have never dealt with arrests or jail with any one.  All new to us.

So Monday comes, he gets out of jail, we pick him up and go eat pizza.  Our friend said he would never go back to jail, ever!  That is good news to us too.  We had told him that he needed to stay somewhere else as my brother in law was coming in that night.

He came with us to the house and worked for a couple hours and drank wine.  Well he drank a lot of wine.  That evening he talked to his ex and decided he should visit her (they have a kid together).  Well it gets much worse as the story goes.  Evidently he drank more and showed up, she did not answer the door and that really pissed him off.  In the driveway was a new German car, our “friend” decided to kick the doors in and then back his huge truck into the car pushing off the drive into the grass.  OH it gets better.  He drank more and decided to drive to the beach 50 miles away.  It really takes talent to get a DUI at 10AM!!!  What the FUCK!

So lets review.  Jail for the weekend, all charges dropped then 12 hours later you have 3–4 charges in one county and a few more hours later 3 charges in another county.  How the hell does anyone do that?  Free man, then a wanted man in the same day???  This can’t happen can it?

So they put him in jail, no bail, then after 40 days allowed him to go to alcohol rehab, live in.  After that he goes back to court for ramming another car, leaving the scene etc, etc.  4 charges.  May have a lot of jail time there.  Oh yea, he still has the DUI which they have reduced to reckless driving (lucky!).  My hubby and I had power of attorney over his affairs and business.  Such a mess.  He did not want to pay day care so we resigned our rights as power of attorney.  No good deed goes unpunished.

Now you know where I have been over the last few months.  Was it worth it?  HELL NO! Would I do it again HELL NO!  Did we save his life? Maybe.  Trying help a friend was pure hell for us. We even have arguments about it, and we never argue. The stress mentally and financially will never be understood.  Remember “A friend in need, is NO friend indeed” (my interpretation) It is true, NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED!

Now back to sexy porn!

Luv,
Summer
